Sharp Top Barbershop – PTO (Paid Time Off) Policy
Effective Date: [Insert Date]
Applies To: All Commission-Based Barbers
1. Overview
Sharp Top Barbershop provides Paid Time Off (PTO) to support a healthy work-life balance. PTO can be used for rest, personal needs, vacation, or sick time. This benefit reflects our commitment to a professional and respectful workplace while maintaining flexibility for our team.
2. Eligibility
- All barbers begin accruing PTO immediately upon hiring.
- PTO cannot be used until after a 90-day waiting period from the start date.
3. Accrual Structure
- Barbers accrue 1 hour of PTO for every week worked.
- Each barber’s annual PTO cap is equal to the number of hours they are typically scheduled per week, with a maximum of 40 hours per calendar year.
- PTO accrues only in weeks where a barber works at least one scheduled shift.
- Accrual is consistent regardless of part-time or full-time status, unless otherwise agreed upon in writing.
PTO Cap by Team Member:
- Name - Cap / Accrued / Used
- Anthony (Full Time) - 40 Hours / 14 Hours Accrued / 0 Used
- Carly (Part Time) - 28 Hours / 10 Hours Accrued / 0 Used
- Dylan (Full Time) - 40 Hours / 14 Hours Accrued / 0 Used

- Gabe (Full Time) - 40 Hours / 14 Hours Accrued / 0 Used
- Krys (Full Time) - 40 Hours / 14 Hours Accrued / 0 Used
4. PTO Cap & Expiration
- The annual PTO cap is based on the barber's scheduled hours (see section above).
- This is a Use-It-or-Lose-It policy — unused PTO expires at the end of the calendar year and does not carry over.
- PTO is not paid out if a barber leaves the company, whether voluntarily or involuntarily.
5. Using PTO
- PTO can be used for vacation, personal time, sick days, medical appointments, or mental health days.
- Sick days do not require advance notice, but barbers must contact management as early as possible the day of the absence.
- Planned PTO must be requested at least 14 days in advance through Sharp Top Connect or directly to a manager.
- PTO can be taken in hourly increments or full days.
6. Blackout Dates
- PTO will not be approved during key blackout periods:
- The two weeks leading up to major holidays (e.g., Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s)
- Special shop events or promotions
- Management reserves the right to adjust blackout periods with reasonable notice.
7. Abuse or Misuse
- No-call/no-show absences may result in loss of PTO eligibility and/or disciplinary action.
- PTO must be used responsibly. Excessive call-outs may lead to a performance review.
8. Policy Changes
This policy may be updated or adjusted at the discretion of Sharp Top ownership. All changes will be communicated in writing.
